NOIDA: In a bid to combat illegal construction in the New Noida (DNGIR) area, the Noida Authority has appointed two lekhpals to oversee development activities across 80 villages—20 in Gautam Budh Nagar and 60 in Bulandshahr. These lekhpals will collaborate with the revenue department to detect unauthorized constructions and will provide weekly reports to the authority. Their official appointments were confirmed via an order issued on July 4.
The officers, Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Manoj Kumar Dubey, are responsible for monitoring 30 villages in Bulandshahr and 10 in Gautam Budh Nagar. Officials have stated that any construction carried out without proper approval in the designated area post-clearance of the Master Plan 2041 (DNGIR) in October 2024 will incur strict enforcement measures.
The state government approved the Master Plan 2041 last year, aiming to develop New Noida in four phases, covering an area of 20,911 hectares. The first phase (2023–2027) will develop 3,165 hectares, with the second phase (2027–2032) covering 3,798 hectares. The third phase (2032–2037) will focus on 5,908 hectares, and the final phase (2037–2041) will encompass the remaining 8,230 hectares.
Land acquisition for the project will be conducted on a mutual consent basis with farmers, and discussions regarding compensation rates are ongoing. The final proposal will be submitted to the authority’s board for approval. In this initial phase, the authority plans to acquire land from 15 villages, conducting meetings with affected families to explain the acquisition process and compensation options.
The Bulandshahr DM, along with the vice-chairperson of the Khurja Development Authority, joined the Noida Authority’s board in April this year. While the Gautam Budh Nagar DM was already a member, Bulandshahr previously lacked representation.
