HYDERABAD: The Indiramma housing scheme aims to provide not just shelter, but also dignity and security to impoverished and Chenchu tribal communities in Telangana, particularly benefiting women, who are the recipients of housing sanction letters, according to Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
During public meetings in the Atchampet and Kollapur assembly constituencies, where sanction letters were handed to 536 Chenchu tribal families, Ponguleti, along with Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uplifting marginalized groups.
He announced that a total of 13,266 Indiramma houses will be sanctioned to Chenchu tribals across the state in a saturation approach. “Every eligible poor family will now have the opportunity to own a home. The government is dedicated to approving housing for all underprivileged families in a phased manner,” said Ponguleti.
“For the Chenchus, who have primarily lived in huts and temporary dwellings, permanent houses are finally becoming a reality—a dream long awaited,” he added.
Additionally, the government is offering free sand and other construction-related support, with funds released every Monday based on the construction progress.
