Mahesh Babu Receives Notice Over Fraud Complaint on Plot Sale

HYDERABAD: A consumer court has issued a notice to actor Mahesh Babu regarding a complaint against Sai Surya Developers, a real estate company he endorsed. This notice, from the Rangareddy District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, was prompted by a complaint from a local doctor claiming she was defrauded of 34.8 lakh after buying a non-existent plot.

In this case, Sai Surya Developers is the first respondent, followed by its owner Kancharla Satish Chandra Gupta and Mahesh Babu as the third respondent. The complainant, along with her husband, was led to trust the company due to Mahesh Babu’s endorsement.

After making the payment for a plot in Balapur layout, the doctor did not receive the necessary property documents or any plot, which compelled her to approach the commission.

The complainants argued that Mahesh Babu’s image on the company’s brochures significantly influenced their decision to purchase the plot.

Next Hearing on Aug 7

The commission has ordered all three respondents to appear at the next hearing on August 7. To date, Mahesh Babu has not publicly commented on this notice.

As reported earlier by TOI, Mahesh Babu has allegedly endorsed various projects associated with both Sai Surya Developers and Surana Group.

Sources from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) indicate that he was paid 5.9 crore for promoting Sai Surya Developers, with 3.4 crore given via cheque and the remainder in cash. The involved companies allegedly collected substantial advance payments from buyers by offering plots in unauthorized layouts, selling the same plots multiple times, and providing false registration assurances.
