CHANDIGARH: The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Chandigarh plans to auction 20 commercial properties, including booths and showrooms, in Manimajra to enhance its revenue. A special committee has been set up to determine the reserve prices and finalize the terms for the property disposal.
Sources indicate that approximately 80 commercial properties in Manimajra are currently vacant and will be auctioned in phases. The initial group of 20 properties will undergo e-auction following the committee’s assessment.
The committee is evaluating multiple parameters to establish reserve prices, with the current collector rate being a significant factor. Bidders will be given ample time to participate in the e-auction process, according to MC sources.
This auction is deemed essential for increasing the MC’s revenue. Due to their strategic locations in busy commercial areas, there is an expectation of strong interest from buyers and considerable financial returns.
An MC official noted, “Previously, the MC struggled to sell properties in the Sector 17 underbridge area and booths near the Sector 17-22 underpass. However, we are hopeful about the Manimajra properties, as they are located in high-traffic commercial zones. Depending on the feedback and revenue generated from these auctions, more properties in the area may be auctioned in the future.”
In related news, the MC has successfully finalized the bidding process for the last remaining kiosk at the food street. “Of the four kiosks at the food street, only one was left unsold, and the bidding process for that has now been completed,” an official stated.
