15+ Property Owners Cited for Tenant Verification Issues in Samba

JAMMU: On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police registered 19 FIRs against property owners in Samba district for failing to provide tenant details, officials confirmed.

The FIRs were filed at the Samba and Bari Brahmana police stations as part of a special verification initiative aimed at improving security and ensuring compliance with tenant verification regulations.

The drive focused on individuals renting properties and domestic workers.

Thirteen cases were recorded at Bari Brahmana and six at Samba police station, as per a spokesperson’s statement. The District Magistrate of Samba has mandated police verification for all tenants. However, many property owners did not follow these orders, resulting in legal consequences.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Anuj Kumar, urges property owners to cooperate with the police by promptly supplying complete tenant information at their nearest police stations.

He stressed that timely verification is crucial for maintaining public order and preventing rented properties from being misused by anti-social elements.

This enforcement drive follows a comprehensive security review conducted by the SSP in the Bari Brahmana region to prepare for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage.

During the review, the SSP inspected several lodgement centers for pilgrims, evaluating the police’s operational readiness and security measures in place.

Focus was particularly placed on enhancing security protocols at national highway checkpoints throughout the district.
