BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) has unveiled plans for four significant projects for the financial year 2026-27, aimed at producing approximately 6,877 inclusive residential units.

During a review meeting led by housing and urban development secretary Usha Padhee, the four proposed initiatives were detailed: the Suango Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project on 12.9 acres near AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, Ranasinghpur EPC housing, Patrapada housing, and the Basanti Colony joint venture residential apartment project.

The Suango project will establish 2,867 dwelling units, among which 1,034 will be affordable housing. This initiative is expected to generate at least Rs 210 crore in revenue for the board. The Ranasinghpur EPC project, covering 5.78 acres and estimated to cost around Rs 397 crore, aims to deliver 1,262 housing units.

Planned over 11.5 acres via e-bidding, the Patrapada housing project will create 2,510 units, including 820 affordable ones. The Basanti apartment project in Rourkela intends to build 238 apartments for middle and high-income groups.

“The OSHB has requested the transfer of suitable government land from district administrations for these affordable housing projects,” stated a communication from the department.

Padhee instructed the OSHB to formulate a clear, time-bound action plan for comprehensive statewide development, including precise land identification, project methodologies, and targeted beneficiaries. She highlighted the necessity for social housing to be a primary focus for the board, addressing the pressing housing needs of economically disadvantaged urban families.

According to OSHB sources, the board has successfully developed a total of 32,343 housing units, shops, and plots across 21 districts, aiming to serve various income groups, including EWS, LIG, MIG, and HIG. Notably, over 20,000 units have been constructed in Khurda district alone.

Previously, the OSHB initiated five major projects, which are currently ongoing with an investment exceeding Rs 517 crore to construct 1,484 housing units. These projects include Kharavela Enclave at Jagamara, Anugul Enclave Housing Project, Subhadra Enclave at Dumduma, Vasudev Vihar project at Andharua, and the Gadakana housing project. Officials noted these projects are expected to be launched in July 2026 following completion of approvals and Orera registration.
