CHANDIGARH: The municipal corporation made a final appeal on Saturday to all residential and commercial property owners to pay their property tax by May 31 — the deadline for availing rebates during the current assessment period.
Property owners are entitled to a 20% rebate on residential property tax and a 10% rebate on commercial property tax if paid by the deadline.
Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar encouraged taxpayers to either use the online payment system or visit Sampark centres to settle their dues and benefit from the rebates. He emphasized that timely payments not only save money but also facilitate the development and upkeep of civic infrastructure and public services.
Officials warned that failure to pay by the deadline would result in a 25% penalty, along with 12% interest, as per established regulations.
The MC has advised all property owners to seize this last chance and ensure their dues are cleared by May 31 to avoid penalties.
