HYDERABAD: Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has tasked officials with identifying and allocating double-bedroom houses to beneficiaries across Telangana by the end of May, regardless of construction status.
In a review meeting, he underscored the urgency of completing near-finished houses and announced financial support of up to ₹5 lakh under the Indiramma housing scheme for those houses that are partially constructed.
If contractors decline to finish the work, beneficiaries will be allowed to complete construction independently, with funding released through a green channel.
Concerns were raised by various MLAs regarding ineligible occupants in the houses. The minister directed collectors to remove these occupants and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive proper allocations, with MLA participation in the process.
He also warned against malpractice in 2BHK bill payments and emphasized that poverty should be the main criterion for eligibility. The government will provide 40 tonnes of sand free of charge for construction; however, many beneficiaries prefer not to live far from urban areas.
Ponguleti reiterated the need to protect government land and urged strict action against encroachments. He highlighted the importance of resolving boundary disputes involving revenue and forest lands through joint surveys to prevent future complications.
