BELAGAVI: The Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) is advancing plans for a new residential scheme in Honnihal village, located approximately 18 km from the city, spanning 92 acres and 7 guntas of land. The proposal has been submitted to the government, and public notification will follow pending project approval.

The last residential layout developed by KHB was Devaraj Urs Colony in Basavan Kudachi nearly ten years ago. This new initiative aims to meet the increasing housing demand in the city by providing affordable options and enhancing public infrastructure.

The KHB has earmarked land in Survey Nos. 43/1 to 43/6 in Honnihal village for this project. Affected landowners will receive compensation along with rehabilitation and resettlement support, adhering to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

Once government approval is secured, KHB will take approximately 5–6 months to issue a public notice inviting objections and suggestions from involved stakeholders, as stated by an official from the KHB office in Belagavi.

The KHB assures that the acquisition process will be conducted transparently and in compliance with legal requirements, including Section 11(1) of the 2013 Act.
