AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced a lease of Rs 40,000 per acre for a decade to farmers participating in the second phase of the Land Pooling Scheme for the new capital city, Amaravati.
Additionally, the chief minister pledged to increase the lease amount by Rs 3,000 annually and provide a crop loan up to Rs 1.5 lakh per household, according to a press release issued on Saturday.
Municipal Minister P Narayana stated on April 10 that a total of 31,150 farmers have contributed nearly 34,983 acres, including 1,000 acres from Pedaparimi village under the Land Pooling Scheme.
“The chief minister announced a lease for farmers who contributed land under the second phase, with Rs 40,000 per acre paid for a decade,” the press release noted.
Farmers from ten villages in the Tadikonda and Pedakurapadu constituencies met with the chief minister on Friday.
With the land acquired from farmers, the southern state has pooled a total of 54,000 acres in Amaravati.
The second phase of the Land Pooling Scheme aims to cover an additional 40,000 acres, starting with 16,666 acres from seven villages in November 2025.
This new allocation is intended to expand the existing 54,000-acre land bank.
Narayana previously indicated that further land pooling is essential for the construction of an inner ring road (IRR) around Amaravati, establishing a railway station and track, and developing an international sports city, among other plans.
