NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has approved an annual budget of Rs 11,829 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27, focusing on land acquisition and infrastructure development surrounding the new Noida International Airport.
A considerable part of the budget, approximately Rs 8,000 crore, is allocated for land acquisition aimed at establishing an industrial and urban ecosystem near the airport. Additionally, Rs 2,011 crore is designated for development and construction in Yamuna City, with Rs 502 crore allocated for the airport itself and Rs 300 crore for multi-modal connectivity initiatives.
The decisions were made during YEIDA’s 89th board meeting on Friday, led by chair Alok Kumar. The board approved a 3.6% increase in allotment rates across various categories, effective from April 1. For instance, residential plot rates will increase from Rs 35,000 to Rs 36,260 per square metre, while commercial plots will rise from Rs 70,000 to Rs 72,510 per square metre.
Group housing plot rates will be adjusted from Rs 52,500 to Rs 54,380 per square metre, and residential township plots will increase from Rs 39,258 to Rs 40,670 per square metre.
Officials indicated that the heavy budget allocation for land acquisition is crucial for securing parcels for planned developments due to growing investor interest ahead of the airport’s opening. The Authority requires land for industrial units and other large-scale projects such as data centres, educational hubs, manufacturing clusters, and proposed townships.
Shailendra Bhatia, the Authority’s additional CEO, stated that the budget will facilitate various activities, including urban development, village infrastructure, and administrative needs. Alongside land acquisition and construction, funds will also be allocated for loan repayments and other obligations.
Approximately Rs 705 crore is earmarked for loan repayments, Rs 7.6 crore for miscellaneous expenditures, and Rs 3.5 crore for consumer refunds.
The Authority is speeding up preparations as the airport is set to be inaugurated on March 28, anticipated to be a significant economic catalyst for the region. Officials believe that improved connectivity and cargo operations will draw both domestic and international investors, transforming the Yamuna Expressway area into a crucial growth corridor.
In other board decisions, a committee was established to finalize rates for Transport Nagar and mixed-use plots. The board also approved a traffic park-cum-training centre for issuing driving licenses, to be developed by Honda India Foundation under its CSR initiative, with land provided at no cost by the authority.
The board approved minor changes to the master plan for the proposed Heritage City near Raya in Mathura, which will be forwarded to the state government for further clearances.
