NOIDA: Residents of La Residentia Society in Greater Noida West continued their protest for a second consecutive day on Sunday, voicing concerns over alleged builder negligence and ongoing maintenance issues. This demonstration follows similar protests earlier this year, with residents asserting that their complaints have gone largely unheeded.
With approximately 2,200 of the society’s 3,256 flats occupied, residents are grappling with several issues, including inconsistent water supply, frequent power outages, faulty lifts, and inadequate maintenance of shared areas. Families, including children and elderly residents, gathered outside the builder’s sales office, demanding an immediate meeting with company representatives to address their concerns.
“The builder is failing to maintain the society’s facilities, and residents are facing numerous issues—from malfunctioning lifts to water quality concerns, security breaches, and cleanliness problems,” said resident Sumil Jalota. “We’ve protested every Sunday for the last three weeks, but rather than improvements, the circumstances remain unchanged.”
Senior members of the society’s mandir committee also participated in Sunday’s protest, with several women organizing a bhajan-kirtan to show support for the residents’ demands.
“We require an effective maintenance system. The shortage of staff for upkeep, security, and lift management is completely unacceptable,” stated Neeta Aggarwal, a member of the bhajan committee.
Residents intend to escalate their protests by organizing a larger gathering in the coming days, during which they will display posters and caricatures to draw attention to their issues. A peaceful sit-in protest is scheduled to start on Monday, along with a ten-day camp outside the builder’s sales office during the upcoming Navratras to attract wider attention.
Meanwhile, the builder has suggested a meeting with the residents. Yatin Malik, technical manager of the recently appointed maintenance agency, mentioned that the firm took charge on February 1 and is currently finalizing the handover process from the previous agency.
“We will address the residents’ concerns once the handover and documentation processes are completed,” Malik stated.
