AMBALA: Haryana Minister Anil Vij has unveiled an urban expansion plan for Ambala Cantonment, announcing the commencement of development for seven new sectors under the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). This initiative is anticipated to significantly enlarge the city’s footprint, enhance residential and civic infrastructure, and position Ambala Cantt as a metropolitan hub.
Grateful for the support of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Vij praised the state government’s commitment to accelerated infrastructure development, calling it a vital step toward modern urban progress. The seven sectors will span around 1,000 acres across the Ambala Cantt constituency and nearby villages, including Ghasitpur, Buhawa, Shahpur, Brahman Majra, Kardhan, Sarsehri, Chandpura, Machhonda, Ugada, Dukheri, Salarheri, Ranwala, Manglai, and Sambhalkhan.
The proposed sectors—Sector 27, 28, 36, 40, 40-A, 41-A, and 42—will integrate residential zones, open spaces, commercial areas, transportation facilities, and industrial plots, ensuring a balanced and planned development approach. The minister confirmed that the state government has launched the e-Bhoomi portal for land aggregation in these sectors, accepting applications until April 30, 2026. Landowners interested in contributing land for development can apply via the portal.
Vij emphasized the transparency of the process, assuring landowners of fair market prices and their involvement in development. He highlighted the long-term vision behind the initiative, stating that the new sectors will extend Ambala Cantt towards the Ring Road, marking a significant step in expansion and modernization aligned with the city’s rapid growth and ongoing infrastructure projects.
Expansion Driven by Ring Road Development
Vij recalled that last year, considering the Ring Road construction, he urged the Haryana government to develop new HSVP sectors in Ambala Cantt. He also convened meetings with officials and called for surveys along the Ring Road corridor to pinpoint suitable land for the planned urban sectors.
With this formal initiation by HSVP, the Ambala Cantt expansion project is now on track for implementation, signaling a substantial enhancement of urban infrastructure not just in Ambala Cantt but across the broader region of Haryana, with administrative coordination from Chandigarh.
