LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that over the past nine years, more than 60 lakh families have received housing benefits in both urban and rural areas of the state. With an additional 2 lakh families included on Sunday, the total has reached 62 lakh.

“This marks the first time since independence that so many families have fulfilled their dream of owning a permanent house,” the CM stated during a program at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, where he transferred the first installment to 2.09 lakh approved beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0.

“This is a historic achievement for the less privileged, middle class, and those in urban areas who need assistance. Nodal officers should be assigned in municipal bodies to prevent irregularities, ensure timely availability of construction materials at fair prices, and guarantee timely disbursement of funds,” he added.

“The Swachh Bharat Mission has brought about a remarkable change as people have started embracing cleanliness. The government has eradicated corruption, allowing Uttar Pradesh to flourish. Today, ₹2,094 crore was directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ accounts,” the CM remarked.

“On Mauni Amavasya, around 4 crore people have bathed at the holy Triveni in Prayagraj. Receiving the first housing scheme installment on such an auspicious occasion is indeed a special gift for the beneficiaries,” he noted.

While congratulating the beneficiaries, the CM encouraged them to send a “thank-you letter” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing confidence that timely completion of housing construction would strengthen the state and foster self-reliance.

Yogi mentioned that districts with the highest number of beneficiaries include Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Pratapgarh, Aligarh, Bijnor, Kushinagar, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Maharajganj.

Quoting examples from Ayodhya and Sonbhadra, he illustrated how families, after receiving homes, have started businesses like e-rickshaws and dairies, achieving economic independence.

“This accomplishment is a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and leadership. Housing represents more than just shelter; it serves as the bedrock of self-reliance. Along with housing, we are providing essential services like toilets, electricity, Ujjwala gas, and Ayushman cards,” he specified.

The program included a virtual address by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
