NOIDA: YEIDA has successfully completed the transfer of ownership for approximately 441 hectares across 18 villages in Jewar, previously held by 3,695 farmers.

Although compensation and residential plot allocations were made, the land had not been officially registered under YEIDA’s name, resulting in illegal sales and cultivation activities.

This initiative is part of YEIDA’s overarching strategy to safeguard its assets and ensure that land acquired for public projects is secured against misuse.

Officials noted that the failure to update land records created opportunities for irregularities, including illegal sales, land mortgaging, and unauthorized cultivation on plots already acquired by the Authority.

“YEIDA has now completed the registration process for the acquired land across all notified villages,” stated CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh. “This step enhances transparency in land transactions, deters fraud, and ensures that public land cannot be unlawfully sold or pledged. Once the land is officially registered, no individual or entity can claim ownership or use it for personal gain.”

According to officials, years of neglected updates to land records allowed criminals to exploit the situation, using the land technically owned by YEIDA as collateral for loans or selling it outright.

These fraudulent activities were uncovered when YEIDA commenced its development projects, prompting police complaints and legal disputes.
