40+ AOAs in Noida Protest FIRs for Disputes and Accidents

NOIDA: Over 40 Apartment Owners Associations (AOAs) from various high-rises in Noida convened to protest against recent FIRs filed against them regarding incidents occurring within their residential complexes. These protests were prompted by FIRs against Amrapali Platinum, Supertech Capetown, and others over injuries caused by planter falls or disputes among residents.

On August 16, a 12-year-old girl sustained severe head injuries when a piece of plaster from the 25th floor of Amrapali Platinum fell on her. Her grandfather claimed that there were no safety barriers, netting, or warning signs, leading to an FIR against the association for negligence.

Ajit Kumar Singh, AOA general secretary of Amrapali Platinum and one of the FIR’s subjects, described the complaint as illegal and biased. “FIRs against AOAs are unjustified administrative actions. Our society is managed by NBCC, which is responsible for maintenance and safety issues. They should be held accountable, not the AOA,” Singh stated.

Additionally, on June 27, the Authority filed a complaint against the AOA of Supertech Cape Town in Sector 74 for allegedly dumping untreated sewage into a sector drain, resulting in an FIR under BNS Section 272 (malignant acts likely to spread infection of a disease dangerous to life) at Sector 113 police station.

Nearly 65 AOAs gathered at the clubhouse of Amrapali Princely Estate in Sector 76 to express their concerns regarding the FIRs. They voiced strong objections to the unilateral legal actions taken by the Noida Authority and Noida Police Commissionerate, stating these bodies lack legal authority to enforce mandatory compliance rules, and can only issue advisories.

The members emphasized that the AOA is dedicated to safeguarding the interests of residents, and these actions threaten their ability to function effectively. Key points raised included a demand for a transparent inquiry into the FIR against Amrapali Platinum’s AOA and a call for AOAs to operate as independent and accountable entities.

“We agreed to take united steps against the oppressive measures toward the AOA in the future. All AOA members present reiterated that if the administration does not pursue dialogue and cooperation, we will have no choice but to take collective action,” said Vikash Singh, AOA president of Amrapali Princely Estate Sector 76.
