Since its inception in 2016, PMAY-U has made substantial progress in Nagaland, marking nine years of implementation. Beneficiaries from the first phase received a subsidy of ₹1.5 lakh, distributed in three installments.
Kechu elaborated that the Angikaar campaign is a nationwide outreach initiative part of PMAY-U 2.0, designed to enhance implementation through public awareness, door-to-door campaigns, camps, and loan melas.
Zhaleo Rio, the adviser for municipal affairs and urban development, also spoke at the event, stating that PMAY-U 2.0 will carry forward the mission of its predecessor, offering improved financial aid to urban poor and middle-class families to build or buy affordable housing.
He mentioned that the plan will be executed over five years, raising the subsidy to ₹2.5 lakh, also provided in three installments. Of this amount, 90% will be funded by the central government, and the remaining 10% by the state government.
