CHANDRAPUR: On Wednesday, Maharashtra’s revenue minister, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, announced the initiation of the process to grant permanent land ownership rights to approximately 16,000 families residing in Chandrapur’s slum areas. He described this move as a significant step towards fostering inclusive urban development.

Speaking at election rallies in the region, Bawankule highlighted that MLA Kishor Jorgewar had vigorously advocated for the regularization of land rights for Nazul landholders in the assembly, expressing his satisfaction that the government was finally honoring that commitment.

Permanent land titles will be issued to households across 55 slum localities in Chandrapur. The minister urged voters to support all BJP candidates to boost the city’s development further.

The rallies took place at Sapna Talkies Square, Babupeth Siddharth Nagar, and Indira Nagar as part of the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming Chandrapur Municipal Corporation elections. Present at the events were Guardian Minister Dr. Prashant Ashok Uike, election observer Chainsukh Sancheti, election in-charge and former MP Ashok Nete, Shiv Sena district organizer Yuvraj Dhanorkar, and district BJP president Bandu Hajare, along with various ward candidates.

Bawankule criticized the Congress party, claiming it lacks a clear developmental vision and survives on empty promises. He contrasted this with MLA Jorgewar, who he commended for treating the people’s mandate responsibly, delivering tangible developments that warrant further support.

The minister announced that all homes in Chandrapur would be surveyed and mapped using drone technology, with the government covering all expenses. Residents will receive ownership documents, approved layouts, and property cards free of charge. Additionally, houses within the blue line will also be regularized. A significant project planned includes the rejuvenation of Ramala Lake, deemed the city’s lifeline.

Bawankule also revealed plans to construct 15,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chandrapur, along with a provision of ₹50 lakh in grants for 50 women’s self-help groups.
