TRICHY: The Tamil Nadu government has earmarked Rs 1.2 crore for the development of roads and water infrastructure at the Thiruverumbur Sipcot industrial park, marking Trichy’s second dedicated industrial area following Manapparai Sipcot. The district administration has selected a 125-acre site near the Trichy Semi-ring Road for the initiative.
Sipcot, in collaboration with Guidance TN, the state’s investment promotion agency, intends to allocate the entire park to a key investor in the electronics sector. This development will take place in the Elandapatti and Suriyur villages, adjacent to the Olympic Training Academy. The land was repurposed from the surplus property of the Union government’s High Energy Projectile Factory (HEPF) and reclassified as government land.
In contrast to other Sipcot parks, the state will focus solely on constructing the main access road that connects Thiruverumbur Sipcot to the Trichy Semi-ring Road. Sipcot has reached out to the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) to secure 0.5 MLD of water in the initial phase, alongside proper drainage and street lighting.
“Promotions are already in progress to attract significant investment in the electronics sector for the entire 125-acre park. We aim to finalize an investor by January 2026,” stated Senthil Raj, MD of Sipcot.
The land price at Thiruverumbur is expected to be higher than that at Manapparai Sipcot due to its favorable location—15 km from Trichy International Airport. Additionally, Sipcot is planning another industrial park spanning over 170 acres near Sengipatti along the Trichy-Thanjavur highway, proposed as a non-leather footwear hub that could create 5,000 to 10,000 jobs for rural communities across the Trichy, Thanjavur, and Pudukottai districts.
With ongoing non-leather footwear investments in Eraiyur, Padalur, and Jayankondam, the region is positioning itself as a burgeoning non-leather footwear cluster, according to Sipcot.
